Salaso Wins Most Innovative Product at Health Technology Ireland Innovation Awards 2021

Salaso

County Kerry-based Salaso, a global leader in precision digital exercise, today announced that it has been awarded the SME Most Innovative Product Award for its myHealthyBody product at the Irish Health Technology Innovation Awards 2021.

The prestigious annual awards event, held online to accommodate COVID-19 restrictions, recognises the most meaningful medical health technology innovations of the year produced by Irish companies.

A precision exercise tool for the prevention and management of musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries in the workplace, myHealthyBody was developed for the employer market. MSK injuries are a significant burden to both healthcare systems and employers. In the United States, the cost of managing MSK-related injuries is estimated to be over $122 billion annually. A large proportion of this cost is borne by employers through self-insurance. They also face additional costs related to absenteeism and workers’ compensation claims.

Salaso, working in close collaboration with Northwell Health, the largest health care provider in New York State, developed its precision exercise product to reduce these costs, as well as the toll taken on the health and wellbeing of those injured.  myHealthyBody is designed for use in both employee wellbeing and workforce safety programs.

It delivers preventive exercise programs that are customized according to an individual’s role; for employees dealing with an MSK condition, an individualized myHealthyBody program enables them to either self-manage the issue or be efficiently directed to the most appropriate level of care-

Aoife Ní Mhuirí, founder and CEO of Salaso commented:

“We are delighted to win this award as recognition for the hard work by all the Salaso team particularly as we were up against so many other great Irish innovations. Thank you to HealthTech Ireland and the sponsors that made these awards possible.

“A special thank you to the team at Northwell Health who have been instrumental in the development of this product and for their ongoing support of the company’s development over the many years of our relationship with them. Working collaboratively, we have created a product that will have real benefits to employers in the management of their workforce’s physical and mental health, particularly important in a post-COVID world.”

Patricia Flynn, assistant vice president of Employee Wellness at Northwell Health added:

“We are delighted that myHealthybody has been recognised in this way. We have found the preventive exercise and recovery programs very effective in reducing the severity of musculoskeletal issues, and are pleased to collaborate with Salaso on such an important addition to employee wellness programs.”

The Irish Health Technology Innovation Awards have grown significantly in the past few years with entries coming from hospitals, researchers, MedTech entrepreneurs and industry.
