Man questioned after woman’s death in Dublin hotel

A 31-year-old man is still being questioned in connection with the death of a 30-year-old woman in a hotel in Dublin over the weekend.

The body of Sonia Blount was discovered by cleaning staff in a room at the Plaza Hotel in Tallaght yesterday afternoon.

Ms Blount sustained injuries consistent with a violent death and gardaí are treating the case as murder.

Ms Blount, who is from Tallaght, checked into the hotel alone on Saturday evening.

At 9.30pm last night a man handed himself in at a Dublin garda station and was arrested and taken to Tallaght.

The man, who is from Clondalkin, Dublin, knew the victim.

He can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
