A man has died after falling out of a car travelling on the N69 in Co Limerick, near the village of Kildimo.

The man, who was 31, fell out of the rear door of the car he was travelling in, which then left the scene.

The man was struck by a second vehicle, which remained at the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The stretch of road is currently closed and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have asked that witnesses or anyone who may have information relating to the car the man fell from to contact them at Newcastle West Garda Station on 069-20650, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800-666-111, or any garda station.

The car is described as light blue, with a registration beginning 99-WH. It is possibly a Toyota Avensis or a BMW.
