Ireland claimed their second win of the World Cup Twenty20 qualifiers with a comfortable 21-run Duckworth Lewis-method win against the UAE in Bangladesh.
Set a target of 124 to win, William Porterfield and Ed Joyce led the chase and, despite Paul Stirling retiring due to injury, reached 95 before losing a wicket.
Kevin O’Brien and Andrew Poynter then lost their wickets cheaply and the floodlights at Sylhet Stadium failed twice before the rain came and the match was abandoned with Ireland ahead on the calculation method.
Ireland face Netherlands on Friday and a win will see them qualify for the Super 10s.
