An eight-year-old girl has died in a road crash in Co Cork.

The girl died in the two-car crash  at Owenahincha Cross, Rosscarbery, Clonakilty at around 3pm. 

Her body has been removed to Cork University Hospital.

The driver of the car she was travelling in and three other passengers received minor injuries, but a woman passenger in her 30s was critically injured and taken to Cork University Hospital.

The 17-year-old driver  of the second car was treated for minor injuries.

The road has been closed for a technical examination and local diversions are in place.
