The man victim was pronounced dead at Tallaght Hospital
Gardaí have begun an investigation after a man in his 40s was shot dead in west Dublin yesterday.
The man, who has been named locally as Stephen Moran of Earlsfort View in Lucan, was shot at a house in Earlsfort View at around 7.30pm.
He was taken to Tallaght Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
The victim was known to gardaí for his involvement in criminal gangs in Dublin and Limerick.
He was also a known associate of the convicted drug dealer John Gilligan, who is recovering in Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown after he was shot two weeks ago at his brother’s home in Clondalkin.
A burnt-out car has been located in Glen Vale, Lucan.
Gardaí are investigating the possibility that this may have been used in the attack.
